Youth Intervention

At The Loft we provide interventions aimed at young people who are identified by themselves or local services to be engaged in the early stages of substance misuse and associated behaviour.

The Loft Youth intervention service provides support to young people 16+ for whom regular drug and / or alcohol use is having a negative impact on their day to day life. Young people can be self-referred, or their parents can make an appointment. The LOFT also accepts referrals from professionals such as teachers, youth workers, GPs etc.

Because we recognise the effects on the family faced with the challenges of substance misuse, Young people will be offered one-one work with our experienced counsellors combined with family therapy sessions as well.

The aim of this therapeutic intervention, which involves the family working with the young person and our therapists, is to address the challenges and issues within their individual family life.

In our experience this can bring a new skills base to how families communicate and address these issues. We encourage the young person to be responsible and find their own voice when it comes to healthy decision making.

With the development of this new service The Loft young people of Cabra can now access this much needed, specialist service in their local community.
